About Us
Originally started in 1980 in College Station, Texas, Pyramid Audio has been repairing consumer audio electronics at the component level in Austin, Texas, since 1989. From here we have become the regional or national audio service center for great manufacturers including Mark Levinson, Lexicon, McIntosh, Revel, Arcam, Proceed, Bang & Olufsen, Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, Hegel, and Audio Research.
Our technicians have nearly a combined 130 years of experience in electrical engineering and repairing home audio equipment. Our head technician/engineer graduated from Texas A&M University in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, along with graduate work in analog circuit design. He then went on to be the technical editor of Autosound and Security Magazine from 1995-2000, contributing two articles a month of in-depth technical analysis of amplifiers and radios. He was a consulting engineer for NHT Audio, Lanzar Pro, and Jade Labs, and was a recipeint of the Consumer Electronic Show Innovation Award for the Lanzar dynamic range expanders G2M and G2S. He is also the designer of our STK+ and TA+ series of replacement output ICs for Kenwood and other brands.
Our team is rounded out by two additional seasoned technicians. One has been working with us for over 20 years specializing in Denon, Marantz, Yamaha home theater receivers, amplifiers, and subwoofers; Levinson and Proceed transports, plus Levinson and Proceed amplifiers like the No333 and HPA3. The other has a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla. An IBM engineer in an earlier life, he came to us from High Fidelity of Austin in early 2004, bringing over 30 years of experience in high-end audio. We were sorry to hear that High Fidelity closed, but we are glad to have their expertise on board. An expert in CRESTRON home automation programming, he is also responsible for the older Levinson and Proceed models, plus McIntosh and Adcom product lines.
